A report emerged Andrei Kirilenko retired.

He said he hadn’t made up his mind.

Now, he has.

E. Carchia of Sportando:

Andrei Kirilenko officially announced his decision to retire.

The Russian forward will likely run for Russian Basketball Federation Presidency.

“I decided to end my career. This is my final decision” Kirilenko told Sportexpress. “Now I would love to change something in Russian basketball”

Kirilenko had a marvelous 13-year NBA career, playing for the Jazz, Timberwolves and Nets.

A versatile and long forward, he was a bit ahead of his time. Now, teams would maximize his skills as a power forward. Then, his do-it-all ability came from both forward spots, and at times, he wasn’t quite agile enough to play small forward.

But that didn’t stop Kirilenko from having a heck of a career – one that included an All-Star appearance, a few All-Defensive team selections and MVP votes.
