Kevin Durant says he’s been hounded by 4-year-olds asking whether he’ll sign with the Wizards as a free agent in 2016. Rumors have swirled. Fans are already buying Durant Wizards jerseys.
Durant deleted his Twitter app amid the hoopla.
But in sum, the Thunder star and D.C. native appreciates Washington’s desire to bring him home.

Don’t get your hopes up too high, Wizards fans. Durant is still loyal to Oklahoma City.

With a year and a half before Durant’s free agency, the Wizards are just planting the seeds now. They can’t offer him a contract, but they can hire his high school assistant coach, and their fans can show their love when the Thunder visit Washington tonight.
Undoubtedly, Durant cares about the DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia), just as LeBron James cares about Northeast Ohio. Durant can still care about the area without signing with the Wizards, but there is certainly something appealing about going home. It would certainly surprise nobody if Durant expresses his fondness for the DMV by signing with the Wizards.
There’s a risk Durant gets Washington fatigue before 2016, but as long as he’s enjoying the hometown love, the Wizards have a chance to nab the star.
