Last night, Stephen Curry completed a 20-point fourth-quarter comeback against the Pelicans with a game-tying three-pointer in the closing seconds of regulation.

The game went to overtime, and the Warriors ultimately won. Now, as part of their new initiative to release officiating data from the last two minutes of close games, the NBA announced that Curry should have gone to the line on the play, having apparently been fouled by Anthony Davis.

From the report:

Comment: Davis (NOP) makes contact with Curry (GSW) prior to his landing. A player’s shooting motion continues until he returns to the floor.

The league releases these reports for the sake of transparency, and it looks like the Pelicans caught a break when Curry, a 91.4 percent foul shooter on the season, didn’t get the chance to give Golden State the lead in regulation. Then again, they shouldn’t have blown a 20-point lead in the fourth quarter in the first place.
