The NBA is making us wait a while for the biggest game of the 2016-17 regular season – Kevin Durant and the Warriors visiting Oklahoma City.
But another star is scheduled to return much sooner to the place he’d spent his entire career before 2016 free agency.
Dwyane Wade is set to head back to Miami in the season’s third week.
Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald:
It’ll be interesting what type of reception Wade gets. He’s the greatest player in franchise history and helped the Heat win all three of their championships. But he also left for more money.
Whether Wade or management bears more responsible for that outcome is debatable. But fans almost always blame the player.
I expect a mix of cheers and boos with the friendly welcome being louder, but this could go either direction – especially because the fans who arrive for player introductions might not reflect the larger fan base.
