The Suns have a dilemma.
They have three valuable guards.
Yup, it’s the good kind of dilemma.
But Phoenix still needed to figure out which of Eric Bledsoe, Devin Booker and Brandon Knight would start.
Paul Coro of The Arizona Republic:Earl Watson announced that Monday’s preseason starting lineup would be the regular-season starting lineup.
Watson is starting Booker with Eric Bledsoe, T.J. Warren, Jared Dudley and Tyson Chandler, beginning with the Monday night preseason opener against San Antonio at Monday.
This is probably the best course. Bledsoe has worked himself into being a very good point guard when healthy. The sky is the limit for the 19-year-old Booker, and he needs minutes to develop.
Knight just hasn’t proven reliable enough at his desired position of point guard. As a combo guard off the bench, he can enter the game at whichever position works best that night.
There’s still plenty of room for experimenting with different combinations, including three-guard lineups. In addition to Bledsoe-Booker, expect to see Bledsoe-Knight, Knight-Booker and Bledsoe-Knight-Booker at times. But the one with the best change of flourishing is Bledsoe-Booker, so that’s the right place to start.
