  • BAL Wide Receiver #82
Former West Virginia senior WR Sean Ryan will transfer to Rutgers.
Ryan (6'3/198 didn’t get a lot of playing time with just 25 catches in 2021 but he was still able to do a lot with those opportunities as tied for a team-leading five touchdowns along with 12.0 yards per catch. He will be immediately eligible as a grad transfer.

West Virginia junior WR Sean Ryan (undisclosed) is warming up ahead of Saturday’s game at Oklahoma.
Ryan (6'3/198) suffered an undisclosed injury during last weekend’s win over Virginia Tech, and he was considered to be a question mark for Saturday’s conference opener against Oklahoma. Based upon pregame warmups, the junior wide receiver appears to be good to go. Ryan being available gives the Mountaineers one more option at wide receiver, a position where they were already quite deep.

  • BAL Wide Receiver #82
West Virginia junior WR Sean Ryan (undisclosed) was taken to the locker room during the third quarter of Saturday’s game against Virginia Tech.
Ryan (6'3/198) was injured after reeling in a Jarret Doege pass during the third quarter of Saturday’s game, with team trainers ultimately taking him back to the locker room. While the Mountaineers’ depth at wide receiver would take a hit if the junior is unable to return, they have the bodies needed to account for Ryan’s absence.

West Virginia sophomore WR Sean Ryan (upper body) is taking part in warmups ahead of Saturday’s game at Kansas State.
Ryan (6'3/198) has not appeared in a game since October 5, and his return would come at a good time for West Virginia with T.J. Simmons (leg) ruled out. The sophomore wide receiver has caught 15 passes for 168 yards, an average of just over 11 yards per reception.
  • BAL Wide Receiver #82
According to West Virginia HC Neal Brown, sophomore WR Sean Ryan (upper body) has been ruled out for this week’s game against Texas Tech.
Ryan has now missed a month of action. The 6-foot-3, 198-pound sophomore suffered an injury on Oct. 5 against Texas and has yet to return since then. Ryan did undergo surgery following the injury, so it’s probably for the best that the program seems to be taking their time with Ryan’s recovery. Ryan caught 15 passes for 168 yards this season prior to his injury.

West Virginia sophomore WR Sean Ryan (upper body) has been declared out for Thursday’s game vs. Baylor.
Ryan (6'3/198) was injured in their October 5th loss to Texas and had surgery shortly thereafter to fix the problem. Ryan ranks fourth on the team with 15 catches and third in yards with 168 despite missing WVU’s last two games. Ryan originally enrolled at Temple, playing in 10 games and racking up 162 receiving yards for the Owls in his only season there. West Virginia takes on Baylor on Halloween this Thursday, so he will try to make it back for Week 11 when WVU hosts Texas Tech.

West Virginia HC Neal Brown said on Tuesday that sophomore WR Sean Ryan will begin running this week after missing time with an upper body injury.
Ryan (6'3/198) underwent surgery to address the issue, which occurred during West Virginia’s Oct. 5 loss to Texas, on October 8. The sophomore wide receiver will not play in West Virginia’s game against Baylor on Halloween night, but there’s a chance that he’ll be back on the field before the end of the season. Ryan has caught 15 passes for 168 yards in five games for the Mountaineers.
  • BAL Wide Receiver #82
West Virginia sophomore WR Sean Ryan has undergone surgery to repair an upper body injury.
While Ryan will be out of action for the foreseeable future, Mountaineers HC Neal Brown has indicated that the 6-foot-3, 198-pound sophomore could potentially return before the end of the season with a clean rehab. Ryan initially sustained the injury in question during this past Saturday’s loss to Texas. In five games this season, he has caught 15 passes for 168 yards. We’ll check back in with Ryan when he is a little further removed from his initial surgery.
  • BAL Wide Receiver #82
West Virginia sophomore WR Sean Ryan is expected to miss “a few weeks” after suffering an undisclosed injury during Saturday’s loss to Texas.
More should be learned about Ryan’s (6'3/198) status moving forward on Tuesday, but after Saturday’s game HC Neal Brown didn’t sound too optimistic about getting the sophomore wide receiver back anytime soon. “Sean, it doesn’t look as good,” Brown said. “It looks like he’s going to be out for a few weeks. I’ll have a better update on Tuesday.” Ryan caught five passes for 70 yards before leaving Saturday’s game.
  • BAL Wide Receiver #82
West Virginia sophomore WR Sean Riley (undisclosed) was a limited participant in Tuesday’s practice.
Riley (6'4/195) has been able to play in all three of WVU’s games to date, but looks to have come away from Saturday’s win over NC State a little banged up. Mountaineers HC Neal Brown indicated that the team is hopeful that the wideout will be able to suit up against Kansas for Week 4. Riley was awarded immediate eligibility from the NCAA after transferring from Temple to WVU over the offseason. He has caught seven passes for 78 yards for the current campaign.
