Cullen embraces possible top line challenge with Preds

At 36, veteran forward Matt Cullen has experienced a lot of things in his NHL career. He hasn’t been a first-line center often - if ever - however.

That could very well be the case now that he’s a member of the Nashville Predators, as he’ll compete for ice time with other two-way centers such as Mike Fisher and David Legwand. Cullen told the Tennessean that he’s ready for whatever role Barry Trotz throws his way.

“As a competitor and an athlete, you always look for those situations to do more and make an impact on a game, on a team, and on a season,” Cullen said. “I’ve played a lot of hockey and feel like I have enough experience now where I’m comfortable with whatever is thrown at me, and I’m looking forward to any of those challenges.”

Helping to create offense for a team likely to be high on grit and low on finesse could indeed be an interesting challenge for Cullen in 2013.
