Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Jack Johnson caught Carolina Hurricanes forward Jiri Tlusty with a huge open ice hit during the third period tonight.
The hit appeared to be from the blind side and Johnson received a minor penalty for an illegal check to the head.

Johnson could be hearing from Senior Vice President of Player Safety, Stephane Quintal, as the hit was textbook in terms of what the league is trying to remove from the game.
