Yeo: ‘that goal in overtime can’t go in’

Mike Yeo

Marc-Edouard Vlasic scored his second game winning goal in as many games as the the San Jose Sharks edged the Minnesota Wild 4-3 in overtime Tuesday night.

Post-game Wild coach Mike Yeo was not impressed with the weak goal, which beat Darcy Kuemper for the game winner.

“We’re not in a position where we can have anybody be below average,” Yeo said. “Obviously it always starts and ends with goaltending. It’s a tricky one, trying to be sensitive to his confidence... but that goal in overtime can’t go in.”

With the win, the Sharks have now won 12 of their last 17. It was San Jose’s first road win in Minnesota since April 2010.

Melker Karlsson, Joe Pavelski and Tommy Wingels scored in regulation for the Sharks in regulation while Alex Stalock, a native of St. Paul, MN, made 28 saves with his parents in attendance.

Jason Zucker and Jared Spurgeon scored first period goals giving Minnesota a 2-0 lead after 20. Zucker’s second of the night, in the third, tied it 3-3.

Kuemper made 22 saves in the loss.
