Anybody who follows Michael Phelps on Twitter or Instagram may be a bit curious as to what he’s been up to.

First, Phelps tweeted this on Sunday:

Then, he posted this photo on Instagram on Tuesday:

Sunday’s tweet caused a bit of a stir and more comeback speculation. But the Instagram photo Tuesday offered more stable details of why he’s traveling: golf.

Phelps is scheduled to compete in a pro-am at the Omega European Masters in Switzerland on Wednesday. He and longtime agent Peter Carlisle are in a group with the tournament’s defending champion, Richie Ramsay, and Omega president Stephen Urquhart.

Phelps recently competed in the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe, Calif., where he finished 84th in a field of 85, beating Larry the Cable Guy.

Phelps had previous golf success in Europe, sinking a reported 153-foot putt at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St. Andrews in Scotland in October.

Also in the pro-am field is retired Olympic silver medalist Alpine skier Didier Cuche of Switzerland.
