Former 49ers LB Brock Coyle announced his retirement from the NFL after five seasons.

    49ers released LB Brock Coyle.
A 10-game starter in 2017, Coyle was limited to one game by injury last season. He suffered both a concussion and broken bone in his back in Week 1. Headed into his age-29 campaign, Coyle will have to prove his health before getting a shot to crack someone else’s 53-man roster.

49ers placed LB Brock Coyle on injured reserve with a broken bone in his back and concussion.
Coyle started Week 1 but was one of Pro Football Focus’ worst linebackers in the league. He just signed a new three-year, $11.5 million deal in March.

Seahawks placed LB Brock Coyle (knee) on injured reserve/designated to return.
A second-year UDFA, Coyle has played only two snaps on defense. The ‘Hawks were nearing a “use it or lose it” situation with their I.R./return spot. Coyle can return in Week 15.

    49ers re-signed LB Brock Coyle to a three-year, $11.5 million contract.
The deal includes $4.1 million guaranteed. Coyle is about midway through his recovery from major shoulder surgery, but the 49ers were confident enough in his health to bring him back. Coyle was a liability at weak-side linebacker last season, but the Niners clearly value his presence. Ideally, he will be a reserve. He turns 28 in October.

49ers LB Brock Coyle (shoulder surgery) has been cleared for training camp.
Coyle seems poised for No. 4 duties in the 49ers’ linebacker corps, though his $4.1 million guaranteed speaks to a player the team expects to play snaps. Coyle was a sub-replacement level ‘backer in 2017.

Impending free agent 49ers LB Brock Coyle is undergoing surgery for a torn labrum in his shoulder.
The operation comes with a 5-6 month timeline. Coyle was a 10-game starter in 2017 but was a liability at weak-side linebacker. Going on 28, he won’t have a free agent market until he’s 100 percent healthy.
