As Wisconsin gets set for what will be a battle for first place among Leaders Division teams actually eligible for the Big Ten title, the Badgers will be down a starter on the defensive side of the ball.
UW has confirmed that starting defensive end Tyler Dippel will not play in today’s game against Purdue. The lineman suffered a shoulder injury late in last weekend’s win over Illinois.
The move comes as little surprise as head coach Bret Bielema had stated earlier in the week that Dippel would be a game-time decision.
Senior Brendan Kelly and freshman Jesse Hayes are listed as the co-backups behind Dippel on UW’s most recent depth chart.
