Baylor having no trouble with Iowa State through one half

More than 50,000 packed into Jack Trice Stadium on Saturday night hoping to see an upset.

They’re going to leave disappointed.

No. 7 Baylor has had no trouble with upstart Iowa State, leading 35-7 through one half. Bryce Petty has completed 22-of-35 passes for 250 yards with one touchdown with one interception. Considering he had only played five quarters this season before tonight, he may hit 50 throws before taking a rest for the night. Petty has also rushed six times for 41 yards and a 16-yard touchdown, keying a Bears ground game that has chewed up 130 yards on 6.2 yards a pop.

Shock Linwood has rushed eight times for 51 yards and two touchdowns, Johnny Jefferson has added six carries for 30 yards and a score, and Antwan Goodley has returned to the lineup to catch his first six passes of the season for 114 yards.

Sam B. Richardson has been Iowa State’s entire offense through one half. Want to know how you’re in trouble against a Big 12 team? When Sam B. Richardson is your entire offense. He’s hit on 7-of-22 passes for 89 yards with a touchdown and an all-timer of an interception, and rushed six times for 23 yards. All together, Richardson has produced 112 yards on 28 total touches - a perfect four yards per play. Iowa State’s three other rushers have compiled 12 yards on 11 carries.

As for Richardson’s interception, it came on a play where he decided to shovel the ball with his left hand (he’s right handed) while in the grasp of a Baylor defender. Karma demanded that this pass end an interception.

Overall, Baylor has outgained the Cyclones 380-124.

Iowa State gets the ball to open the second half.
