According to a blog post in this morning’s Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Oklahoma State Cowboys are looking at current Dallas Cowboys linebackers coach Reggie Herring for their vacant defensive coordinator position.Scout.com’s GoPokes website originally reported the hiring of Herring was a done deal; a subsequent update, however, states the site may have “jumped the gun” on the original report. The Star-Telegram speculates that if Herring, who just completed his first year in Dallas, jumps at the OSU opportunity, it would be reflective of the uncertainty swirling around the NFL Cowboys’ coaching staff.Of course, it couldn’t be that the assistant coach would be leaving for a better opportunity. No, no, no. Of course not. As we all know, the football world revolves around Dallas and is the be-all, end-all of coaching and playing opportunities.
