Transfer Day here at CFT continues, with Oregon State the latest to benefit from a player seeking greener playing pastures -- and the chance to reconnect with someone very close to him.
Speaking to the Salt Lake Tribune, Iona Pritchard confirmed that he will be leaving BYU and finishing up his playing career at Oregon State. A graduate transfer, the fullback will be able to aid the Beavers immediately in 2014.
According to the player, the reason behind his decision to leave the Cougars was a simple one.
“I just wanted the opportunity to play with my brother my last year,” Pritchard said in reference to his brother Baker, who transferred from BYU to OSU earlier this offseason.
The elder Pritchard suffered a devastating leg injury in 2012 that cost him the entire season. He returned the following year to start four of the 13 games in which he played, then played in nine games last season.
For his career, Pritchard rushed for 44 yards on 15 carries while adding another 18 yards on four receptions.
In addition to Pritchard, quarterback Billy Green has also asked for, and been granted a release from, his BYU scholarship. Green was a two-star member of the Cougars’ 2013 recruiting class who burned his redshirt as a true freshman playing very sparingly in a game against Idaho State.
