Injury to sideline Baylor WR Clay Fuller for at least six weeks

The bad news for Baylor is that one of its top returning wide receivers will be sidelined for a significant period of time. The good news is that Art Briles has a receiver farm there in Waco and can just pluck a replacement straight off a tree.

According to multiple media outlets, Clay Fuller suffered a broken clavicle as he attempted to make a diving catch during practice Friday. As a result, Clay will miss at least six weeks and up to eight as he recovers.

The short-end of the timeline would have the receiver back in time for the Iowa State game Sept. 27 (BU has a bye the previous weekend); the worst-case scenario would have him returning for the Oct. 4 showdown with Texas in Austin.

At least at this point in time, surgery will not be necessary. However, if it is, the timeline for a return could stretch into late October and perhaps cost Fuller the whole of the 2014 season.

Fuller was fifth on the team last season with 32 catches for 512 yards.
