Pair of ends to miss ‘Canes’ showdown with ‘Noles

According to head coach Randy Shannon, a pair of defensive ends -- Eric Moncur and Adewale Ojomo -- will not play in Monday night’s rivalry game with Florida State due to injury.

The absence of the latter is not a surprise as Ojomo suffered a broken jaw during what was described as (wink wink) locker room horseplay last month.

Moncur is suffering from a groin injury, which has limited the end during most of summer camp.

Still, Shannon is at least outwardly comfortable with his situation along the defensive line.

“Everybody else is fully healthy,’' Shannon said according to the Miami Herald. “We may have an ankle here or maybe I rested a guy. Like sometimes in practice I’ve rested [defensive tackles] Allen Bailey and Josh Holmes and Joe Joseph. We’re pretty healthy right now.

“We have confidence in [defensive ends] Olivier Vernon, Marcus Robinson, Andrew Smith and Steven Wesley -- who has done a great job for us. We have a lot of guys who played a lot of football on this team at that position.”
