Three schools were among those to reportedly pique the interest of now-former Penn State quarterback Steven Bench toward the beginning of this month. Those programs were said to be South Florida, North Carolina State and Mississippi State, with Bench confirming as much a short time later.
Now, Bench has planned out his visits for those schools. Per the Jackson Clarion-Ledger, Bench will visit South Florida on May 13 and 14, NC State on the weekend of the 18th and Mississippi State on May 20 and 21. Temple and FIU have also apparently shown interest in Bench, though it’s not clear if that feeling is mutual.
“I’m going in with an open mind right now,” Bench told the paper. “I’m going to take my visits, I’m going to make the best decision for me.”
As previously noted, Bench would be eligible to play immediately in 2013 at the FBS level due to the sanctions levied on the Nittany Lions football program last year. However, Bench has also stated that he would be willing to use a redshirt. Either way, he still has three years of eligibility remaining.
