One of the many positives about spring football is that it allows players an opportunity to get a significant jumpstart on preparations for the upcoming seasons. One of the few negatives is it’s yet another opportunity to incur an injury.
Unfortunately for Rice, the latter seems to be the case.
By way of the Houston Chronicle, Owls tight end Luke Willson tweeted late Sunday night that he suffered what appears to be a fairly significant injury to his foot. The injury occurred during the first week of spring practice.
“First full pad practice of spring ball and I break a bone in my foot ... terrible,” Willson said on his Twitter account.
The school has yet to confirm the extent of Willson’s injury.
Last season, the junior finished tops on the team in receiving yardage (425), and second in receptions (33) and receiving touchdowns.
