PITCHER
Mike Soroka – Atlanta (vs. Pittsburgh)
Soroka currently ranks second in the league with an outstanding 1.38 ERA. He checks in as a strong -205 money line favorite against a Pittsburgh team that ranks 20th in wRC+ this season. On top of that, the Atlanta bats are waking up, putting Soroka in a position to receive adequate run support. The Braves’ righty has displayed excellent command this season with a sneaky-good repertoire that suppresses home runs. This is an encouraging spot for Soroka to keep rolling, and there are enough reasonably priced hitters to build a confident lineup around his marked-up DFS salary.
Also Consider: Joey Lucchesi, Miles Mikolas
CATCHER / FIRST BASE
C.J. Cron – Minnesota (vs. Seattle)
Cron ranks second in wRC+ against left-handed pitching this season (205), only trailing J.D. Martinez in that category. The Minnesota first baseman got a night off yesterday, so he should be refreshed and ready to take advantage of a favorable draw. Tommy Milone (LHP) will be the “bulk pitcher” for Seattle tonight, and he carries a vulnerable .387 wOBA split to right-handed bats over the past two seasons.
Also Consider: Trey Mancini, Mitch Garver
SECOND BASE
Ozzie Albies – Atlanta (vs. Pittsburgh)
I mentioned earlier how Atlanta’s offense is starting to heat up. Albies has been a catalyst within that, racking up seven hits, three homers, seven runs, and four RBIs over his past four starts. It seems that moving to the bottom half of the order has served him well, and this is a promising draw against Pittsburgh RHP Mitch Keller – who allowed six earned runs through four innings in his only MLB start this season.
Also Consider: Jonathan Schoop, Eric Sogard
THIRD BASE
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. – Toronto (at Baltimore)
This Toronto-Baltimore matchup represents one of the best DFS environments of the night. We have a pair of generous pitchers starting in Baltimore’s hitter-friendly park. David Hess will take the bump for the Orioles, and he carries a 7.08 ERA to go along with a .384 wOBA split to right-handed bats. As we all know, Guerrero holds a comfortable blend of contact and power while looking to jump all over this matchup. His salary on most DFS sites won’t break the bank either.
Also Consider: Miguel Sano, Josh Donaldson
SHORTSTOP
Jean Segura – Philadelphia (vs. Arizona)
Arizona RHP Merrill Kelly has looked better lately, but he could easily regress while facing a tough Philadelphia offense on the road tonight. One of his biggest pain points comes from a .348 wOBA split to right-handed bats. That’s where Segura comes in while swinging a hot bat with nine hits, four doubles, one homer, and a stolen base over his past seven starts.
Also Consider: Jonathan Villar, Freddy Galvis
OUTFIELD
Nelson Cruz – Minnesota (vs. Seattle)
Minnesota’s “Bomba Squad” could be out in full force tonight. As mentioned earlier, Seattle LHP Milone has been effective through four starts, but regression could come crashing down against the league’s top offense. Cruz is a confident hitter against southpaws while looking to jump all over Milone’s .387 wOBA split to right-handed bats over the past two seasons.
Randal Grichuk – Toronto (at Baltimore)
Let’s go back to the Toronto-Baltimore matchup, where Grichuk steps in with some promising upside. He’s a boom-or-bust recommendation, but the draw is undeniable with a cheap salary to boot. Opposing pitcher, Hess, carries a .384 wOBA split to right-handed bats, and Grichuk has enough power to take full advantage.
Also Consider: Nick Markakis, Jorge Soler, Byron Buxton, Nicholas Castellanos, Scott Kingery, Anthony Santander
