  • CLE Relief Pitcher #31
Guardians placed LHP Sam Hentges on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to March 25, with left middle finger inflammation.
Hentges has been shut down indefinitely to undergo further testing after reporting left middle finger soreness earlier this month. It’s unclear how long he’ll be sidelined.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #44
Padres’ manager Mike Shildt confirmed that Joe Musgrove (triceps) will return from the injured list to start Sunday’s series finale against the Braves.
Musgrove has been sidelined since May 5 due to triceps tendinitis. He has made remarkable progress this week though — so much so that the Padres felt he didn’t even need a minor league rehab start. Fantasy managers may want to take a wait-and-see approach before throwing him back out there in lineups though. Prior to landing on the injured list, Musgrove had posted a 6.37 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and a 36/13 K/BB ratio across 41 innings in his first eight starts.
  • MIA First Baseman #9
Josh Bell went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI against the Mets on Saturday.
Bell blasted a game-tying three run home run in the ninth inning off the Mets’ Edwin Diaz. It was his sixth home run of the season. It was a good game, but Bell isn’t having a good season. Even with the home run, his .137 ISO is the lowest of his career. His average is .229, but that should pick up a bit as his BABIP is .258 this year compared to his career .286 BABIP.
  • SD Left Fielder #6
Padres signed OF David Peralta to a minor league contract.
The 36-year-old outfielder spent spring training with the Cubs and then appeared in 20 games at Triple-A Iowa before was cut loose after slashing .217/.341/.348 with two homers, eight RBI and a 13/12 K/BB ratio over 85 plate appearances. He’ll report to Triple-A El Paso where he’ll function as extra outfield depth for the Padres.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #39
Edwin Diaz allowed four runs and only recorded one out against the Marlins on Saturday.
Diaz entered the game with a four-run lead so it wasn’t technically a save situation, but he once again couldn’t hold the lead for the Mets. It’s his third straight appearance with a blown lead. Diaz allowed an RBI single to Jazz Chisholm and a game-tying three run home run to Josh Bell. His ERA is now 5.50 on the season. Diaz has been an elite closer in the past, but we’re at the point where he might need to be removed from the closer role temporarily.
  • MIA Second Baseman #2
Jazz Chisholm went 3-for-5 with three runs scored, three RBI and a home run against the Mets.
Chisholm’s home run was his sixth of the year. Despite coming into this season in better shape, he hasn’t seen a significant uptick in his production. Chisholm has stayed healthy, which has been a problem for him in the past, but his numbers are fairly similar to last season’s pace across the board.
  • NYM Second Baseman #1
Jeff McNeil went 2-for-4 with a run scored, two RBI, a walk and a stolen base against the Marlins on Saturday.
McNeil gave the Mets a sizable lead as his two-run single made it a 7-2 game in the fifth inning. It was a good game from the former batting champion, but he’s having a brutal season so far with a .239 average and only one home run.
  • NYM Third Baseman #27
Mark Vientos went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, a run scored, and an RBI against the Marlins on Saturday.
Vientos had an RBI single in the first inning and later scored on a Harrison Bader single. He has started back-to-back games, but he’s in a platoon with the left-handed Brett Baty at third base. Neither one is more than a deep league option as long as they continue to share playing time.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #29
Braxton Garrett allowed six runs, seven hits and a walk in 4 ⅓ innings and got a no-decision against the Mets on Saturday.
It was Garrett’s second start since coming off the injured list. He’s allowed at least five runs in both of his starts and his ERA is up to 10.24. The silver lining is that Garrett has 13 strikeouts in 9 ⅔ innings this year. The 26-year-old left-hander is scheduled to face the Diamondbacks on the road next weekend, but he should be left on the bench for now.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #40
Luis Severino allowed five runs in 6 2/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Mets’ 10-9 loss to the Marlins on Saturday.
Severino was in line for his third win of the season, but the bullpen couldn’t hold the lead. He appeared to be cruising through the first six innings having allowed only two runs, but the Marlins scored three times in the seventh. His ERA is now 3.48. Severino only struck out three batters. His 21 percent strikeout percentage is a far cry from where it was during his heyday with the Yankees, but he’s getting a lot more ground balls as his 55 percent ground ball percentage is a career-high. The 30-year-old right-hander is set to face the Giants at home next weekend.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #96
Landon Knack is expected to start for the Dodgers in Sunday’s series finale against the Reds.
Dodgers’ skipper had mentioned recalling Knack from Triple-A Oklahoma City as one option on Sunday, and now that Knack has been scratched from his scheduled start at Triple-A, the writing is on the wall. Expect him to work the first four or five innings before turning the game over to the Dodgers’ deep and talented bullpen.
