The 23-year-old was placed on the 10-day injured list on Opening Day after dealing with shoulder pain during spring training. Boone added that Peraza “should start to build pretty quick from there”, so it sounds like we could see the young infielder in the next week or so. However, Oswaldo Cabrera has filled in nicely for Peraza at shortstop hitting 8-for-20 (.400 AVG) with two home runs and seven RBI in the Yankees’ first five games of the season, so it’ll be interesting to see what the Yankees decide to do when Peraza makes his return.

Gurriel will get the day off for the series finale against the White Sox. While he rests, Randal Grichuk will get a start; something that doesn’t typically happen against right-hander hurlers.

Ellis is now off the 40-man roster, and the White Sox used that room to select the contract of Chuckie Robinson so that Robinson wouldn’t opt out of his minor-league deal. Ellis has shown tremendous speed on the bases, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if a team were to claim him or possibly make a trade with the White Sox to procure his services.

This move puts Robinson on the 40-man roster and keeps him from opting out of his minor-league contract. The 29-year-old backstop could see time with the White Sox as a backup catcher before 2024 comes to an end.

The Yankees announced their rotation for the series against Baltimore. Kind of. Tuesday’s starter will be Nestor Cortes, and Thursday will be Luis Gil. Wednesday has a TBD by it, and it seems possible — if not probable — that it’ll be Cole returning to the rotation. The 2023 Cy Young winner has looked the part in his rehab starts, and while there could be some precautions taken, there’s every reason to believe he’ll be just as fantasy relevant over these three-plus months of 2024.

Perez was removed Friday after experiencing discomfort in his right knee, and while the backstop did miss Saturday’s game, he’s feeling well enough to be the designated hitter and hit cleanup against the Dodgers in the final game of the three-game set. Great news for all parties involved.

It clears space on the roster for Cole Winn, with Winn recalled from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding transaction. Tinoco is now off the 40-man roster as well, and is subject to the waiver wire. If he goes unclaimed, the Rangers can stash him in Triple-A if Tinoco doesn’t elect free agency.

Winn is up to help provide some innings for the Rangers staff. The 24-year-old gets the promotion, and Jesus Tinoco was designated for assignment to make room for Winn on the active roster.

Avila was up-and-down a few times for the Giants, but now is off the roster entirely as they created room for Spencer Bivens to be added to the 40-man roster and the active group. Avila is now free to sign with anyone.

It will be bullpen games for both the Angels and Giants. Miller is getting the ball with Kyle Harrison (ankle) heading to the injured list. He likely won’t work deep enough to qualify for a win, so there’s no reason to consider him as a streaming option.

Bivens will give the Giants some help in the bullpen, and he takes the roster spot of Kyle Harrison after Harrison suffered a sprained ankle. There’s no real fantasy value here, but it’s an excellent story for a 30-year-old who has a chance to make his MLB debut in the coming days.
