  • LAA Center Fielder #27
Mike Trout became the first major leaguer to reach 10 homers this season when he took the Orioles’ Dean Kremer deep on Wednesday.
Trout’s 10th homer came in his 25th game. He still has just 13 RBI, since he’s not hitting singles (.237 average) and he’s especially not hitting with men on base. Things don’t figure to get much better there if the Angels leave him in the leadoff spot.
  • FA First Baseman #38
    Reds released 1B Mike Ford.
Ford technically opted out of his minor-league deal after not being recalled from Triple-A, but by MLB definition he gets his walking papers. Ford hit well in the International League with six homers and a .919 OPS over 91 at-bats, and he should see interest on the free-agent market.
  • BOS Second Baseman #23
Romy Gonzalez (wrist) went 1-for-4 for Triple-A Worcester on Friday.
Gonzalez is working his way back from a left wrist sprain that has placed the infielder/outfielder on the shelf since April 13. The 27-year-old will have a chance to return in a reserve role in around a week.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #71
Shane Drohan (shoulder) is beginning his rehab assignment.
Drohan has been on the injured list since the start of the season after undergoing nerve decompression surgery on his shoulder. The 25-year-old will likely need a lengthy rehab assignment with a chance to return to the White Sox before the end of May.
  • ARI Center Fielder #5
Alek Thomas (hamstring) went 1-for-4 with Triple-A Reno on Friday.
Thomas began his rehab assignment from the hamstring injury that has sidelined him since the start of April. The 24-year-old will likely play around a week of games in the Pacific Coast League before entering the outfield rotation for the Diamondbacks in the middle of May.
  • ATL Right Fielder #13
Ronald Acuña hit a solo homer while going 2-for-5 in an extra-inning loss to the Dodgers on Friday.
Acuña Jr. hasn’t shown a ton of power in the early portion of the season, but he came through in a big way with a game-tying homer in the eighth off Daniel Hudson in the eighth. That’s just the second roundtripper of the season for the reigning MVP, but it’s hard to fathom the power isn’t going to come from a player that swatted 41 homers in 2023.
  • ATL Third Baseman #27
Austin Riley went went 2-for-5 with a solo homer in a loss to the Dodgers on Friday.
Riley got Atlanta on the board with a solo homer in the first off Gavin Stone, and that’d be the last run they’d score with Stone in the game. Riley is now up to 17 RBI and three homers to go with a disappointing .725 OPS over 124 at-bats.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #50
Charlie Morton gave up two runs in six innings against the Dodgers on Friday while not factoring into the decision.
Morton continues his good run, but it comes without a win as Atlanta didn’t provide him the necessary run support. The right-hander lowered his season ERA to 3.50 while scattering five hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Morton didn’t look good in the middle of April, but the 40-year-old has been a very strong option outside of those two outings where he gave up 12 of the 14 runs he’s given up in 2024. He gets the Mets on Friday.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #71
Gavin Stone didn’t factor into the decision against Atlanta on Friday despite allowing just one run over six innings.
Stone was excellent, but the Dodgers blew a late lead to prevent him from picking up the win. The 25-year-old threw 58-of-86 pitches for strikes while fanning five and issuing just one walk. Stone isn’t missing bats at an elite level, but it’s tough to argue with the results thus far. He gets a tasty matchup against the Marlins next week.
  • LAD Center Fielder #84
Andy Pages went 4-for-5 with the game-winning single in the 11th inning to give the Dodgers a 4-3 win over Atlanta on Friday.
Pages put an end to that chapter, with the chapter being an 11-inning affair in this case. The rookie outfielder has his first ever four-hit game, and one of those was a walk-off single in the 11th off Jesse Chavez. Pages has looked the part and then some thus far, and is obviously worthy of roster consideration in redraft leagues.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #19
Cole Irvin allowed only a pair of hits over 6 1/3 innings Friday in the Orioles’ 3-0 shutout of the Reds.
It’s Irvin’s third straight scoreless start. His stint in the rotation figured to be a short one with Kyle Bradish and John Means on the IL to open the year, but he’s gained a reprieve with Grayson Rodriguez and Tyler Wells going down and he’s making the most of it, having gone 3-1 with a 2.86 ERA to date.
