  • HOU Left Fielder #44
Yordan Alvarez crushed a pair of home runs and drove in three as the Astros walloped the Rockies 12-4 in Mexico City on Saturday night.
The 26-year-old slugger victimized Rockies’ right-hander Cal Quantrill in the third inning, demolishing a 461-foot (108.8 mph EV) two-run shot that gave the Astros a 3-2 lead that they would never relinquish. He also tacked on a 461-foot (113.0 mph) solo shot off of Tyler Kinley in the ninth inning. Alvarez finished the night 3-for-5 and is now hitting .283/.358/.509 to go along with seven homers and 17 RBI on the season.
  • ATL Third Baseman #27
Austin Riley (side) told reporters on Sunday night that he’s hopeful to return to the Braves’ starting lineup at some point during the upcoming week.
Riley initially felt something in his side during batting practice but didn’t say anything. He then felt the discomfort again in the third inning on Sunday night and continued to play through it. Finally in the fifth inning, it was enough of a concern to mention something, which prompted his exit from the ballgame. He’ll probably miss a couple of games as a precautionary measure, but it doesn’t sound like Riley should require a trip to the injured list.
  • NYM Left Fielder #9
Brandon Nimmo played the role of hero on Sunday night in New York, crushing a walk-off two-run homer off of A.J. Minter to deliver a 4-3 victory over the Braves.
The Mets entered the final frame trailing 3-2, but things got interesting after Jeff McNeil started it off with a bunt single. He was then sacrificed to second base by Tomas Nido. McNeil got an unbelievable jump on a 2-1 offering to Nimmo and looked to have third base stolen, but Nimmo fouled the pitch off and showed clear frustration with himself over the situation. Not to worry though, as two pitches later he pulverized a cutter from Minter for a 396-foot (103.7 mph EV) walk-off blast. Not bad for his only at-bat in the contest. On the season, he’s now hitting .234/.379/.431 with six long balls and 27 RBI.
  • NYM First Baseman #20
Pete Alonso went 2-for-4 with a double and drove in a pair of runs on Sunday night as the Mets rallied to beat the Braves.
Alonso got the Mets on the board with a run-scoring single off of Bryce Elder in the third inning. He then plated their other run with an RBI double off of Elder in the sixth inning that tied the game at 2-2. The 29-year-old slugger’s bat has started to pick up a bit, but he’s still hitting a disappointing .223/.305/.453 with nine homers, 22 RBI and one stolen base on the season.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #40
Luis Severino pitched decently in a no-decision against the Braves on Sunday night, allowing two runs on four hits over his five-plus innings of work.
The 30-year-old right-hander walked three batters and punched out four on the night. He served up a solo homer to Jarred Kelenic in the second inning, then allowed the first two hitters to reach in the sixth inning before turning the ball over to the bullpen, and one of them ultimately crossed the plate. Severino got 12 swings and misses on 94 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 24 percent. He’ll try to get back in the win column as he totes a 3.00 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and a 41/20 K/BB ratio (45 innings) into Friday’s matchup against the Marlins in Miami.
  • ATL Left Fielder #20
Marcell Ozuna smacked a go-ahead RBI single in the eighth inning on Sunday night, but it still wasn’t enough to lead the Braves past the Mets.
Ozuna gave the Braves the lead in the sixth inning with an RBI single off of Reed Garrett that made it a 2-1 ballgame. They then entered the eighth inning locked in a 2-2 tie, but got things started as Zack Short worked Adam Ottavino for a leadoff walk. He then swiped second base and raced around to score on Ozuna’s run-scoring single. The 33-year-old slugger finished the night 2-for-3 plus a walk and is slashing a robust .326/.404/.638 with 12 homers and a league-leading 40 RBI.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #33
A.J. Minter suffered a blown save on Sunday night, serving up a walk-off two run homer to Brandon Nimmo in a loss to the Mets.
Minter — who was called upon with Raisel Iglesias unavailable — allowed Jeff McNeil to reach on a bunt single to start the inning. After a successful sacrifice by Tomas Nido, Nimmo clobbered the game-winning blast to spoil the Braves’ bid for a sweep. On the season, the 30-year-old southpaw holds a 3.78 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and a 20/4 K/BB ratio over 16 2/3 innings.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #55
Bryce Elder looked sharp in a no-decision against the Mets on Sunday night, striking out six batters over 5 1/3 innings of two-run baseball.
The right-hander scattered seven hits on the evening and didn’t allow a base on balls. Pete Alonso was responsible for all of the damage that was done against him, with an RBI single in the third inning and a run-scoring double in the sixth. Elder generated just seven swings and misses on 85 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 28 percent. Still 1-1 on the season, he’ll bring a 4.79 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and a 16/8 K/BB ratio (20 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s showdown against the Padres.
  • ATL Third Baseman #27
Austin Riley was removed from Sunday night’s battle against the Mets in the fifth inning due to tightness in his left side.
The Braves are calling his exit precautionary, but there’s still cause for concern. It’s unlikely that the club will have any additional updates until Monday. Fantasy managers should be sure to have a contingency plan in place for next week in the event that Riley is forced to miss a couple of games. Zack Short replaced him at third base on Sunday and could be in line for increased action if Riley does miss any time.
  • SEA Center Fielder #44
Julio Rodríguez crushed a two-run homer on Sunday afternoon, powering the Mariners to an 8-4 victory over the visiting Athletics.
The 23-year-old outfielder has been off to a painfully slow start at the dish this season, so it was good to see him launch a 409-foot (109.0 mph EV) two-run shot off of Alex Wood in the second inning — increasing the Mariners’ early lead to 5-0. Rodríguez also doubled, walked and scored a pair of runs in the contest, finishing the day 2-for-3. For the season, he’s slashing .255/.310/.323 with two homers, 13 RBI and nine swipes.
  • SEA Catcher #33
Seby Zavala clubbed his first home run of the 2024 season on Sunday as the Mariners bested the Athletics in Seattle.
The light-hitting 30-year-old backstop victimized Kyle Muller for his 357-foot (97.1 mph EV) solo shot in the sixth inning, extending the Mariners’ lead to 8-2. That would be his only hit in three at-bats on the afternoon. For the season, he’s now slashing .200/.200/.367 with a homer and two RBI.
