The 24-year-old burgeoning fantasy ace might have some workload limitations right out of the gate, but it’s a nice matchup for fantasy purposes against a Seattle lineup that has scored the fifth-fewest runs in baseball so far.

Baumann figures to draw some interest on waivers after pitching to a respectable 3.44 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 16/9 K/BB ratio across 18 1/3 innings (17 appearances) this season out of Baltimore’s bullpen. The 28-year-old former prospect has made 94 appearances (four starts) in the majors since 2021.

There’s been zero indication that Hoerner will wind up requiring a trip to the injured list, but he’s out of Chicago’s lineup for the fifth straight game on Saturday afternoon due to ongoing left hamstring tightness. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day, but there’s a possibility the Cubs will have to send him to the injured list if he’s unable to return this weekend.

Wicks hit the injured list back in late April with a left forearm strain, but appears close to heading out for a couple minor league rehab starts. The 24-year-old southpaw figures to rejoin Chicago’s starting rotation later this month, but could wind up shifting to more of a swingman-type role.

Swanson continues to ramp up baseball activities and it sounds like he’ll be activated early next week when first eligible to face his former club at Wrigley Field. The 30-year-old shortstop hit the shelf last week with a right knee sprain.

Palencia landed on the shelf earlier this month with left shoulder stiffness and appears likely to require only a minimum stay on the injured list.

Schneider finds himself atop Toronto’s struggling lineup for the fourth time in their last seven contests, even with veteran George Springer back healthy on Saturday afternoon, as they attempt to generate a spark. The 25-year-old on-base machine has walked in nearly 13 percent of his 119 plate appearances this season, which has helped bolster a robust .370 on-base percentage. He’s added five homers, including a two-run shot during Friday’s series opener against Tampa Bay, and has chipped in a pair of stolen bases as well. He doesn’t offer stratospheric fantasy upside, but he’s probably worthy of a roster spot in standard mixed leagues if he’s going to remain atop the Blue Jays’ lineup moving forward.
