Cal Raleigh went 1-for-1 with a grand slam in the Mariners’ win over the Twins on Tuesday.
Raleigh came up clutch for the Mariners. Called on to pinch hit in the seventh inning with the bases loaded, Raleigh sent his ninth homer of the season deep into the left field stands for the fourth pinch-hit grand slam in Mariners history. The righty vs. lefty matchup paid off for Raleigh, who made the most of a breaking ball Steven Okert floated over the middle of the plate. Raleigh is hitting just .213 on the season, but leads the Mariners in homers and RBI (20).
  • NYM Center Fielder #44
Harrison Bader went 2-for-4 with two singles and two RBI on Sunday in the Mets win over the Marlins.
Bader has been a great source of batting average and stolen bases this season hitting .280 while swiping six bags. His role has fluctuated, but his glove will keep him on the field.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #18
Sixto Sánchez allowed four earned runs in four innings on Sunday against the Mets. He struck out two and walked two.
This version of Sánchez doesn’t get enough swings and misses to be a viable starter as his K% and Whiff% are both near the bottom of the league. The Mets jumped on Sánchez for a four-run first inning in which he threw 40 pitches with just two swings and misses. He did settle in some after the first and touched 96 MPH three times. His ERA as a starter rose to 6.52 in this loss.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #59
Sean Manaea allowed two earned runs across five innings on Sunday. He struck out four, walked one, and got the win.
This was a very Manaea start, going five frames, missing bats, and limiting damage. He’s been very solid this season with a 3.11 ERA and three wins in nine starts. Walks have been an issue for him, but not on Sunday.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #39
Corbin Burnes fanned 11 while allowing one run in six innings Sunday as the Orioles bested the Mariners 6-3.
Burnes matched his season-high for strikeouts; he also fanned 11 on Opening Day. Oddly, he hasn’t struck out more than six in any of his other eight starts. Still, he’s been plenty successful in amassing a 2.56 ERA to date. The win today was his first since April 20.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #19
Cole Irvin worked two scoreless innings for a hold Sunday in his first relief appearance of the season.
The Orioles are probably going to use a six-man rotation for most of the next month, so Irvin could be back in the mix next time through. It’s pretty fortunate for the Orioles that they can view him as their sixth starter in spite of his 4-1 record and 2.90 ERA in seven starts.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #46
Getting a chance to close for the first time since May 8, Craig Kimbrel struck out two in a perfect ninth Sunday against the Mariners.
This was truly easing him back into the closer’s role; not only did he have a three-run lead, but he was getting the bottom third of the Mariners lineup. Kimbrel has allowed just one batter to reach in four scoreless innings since his May 8 outing knocked him out of the closer’s role for a spell. He’ll likely be the primary guy for now, though it’d be best if he could go a couple of more weeks without any miscues.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher #68
George Kirby surrendered five runs in six innings Sunday in a loss to the Orioles.
Kirby seemed pretty unlucky in a couple of his early-season starts that left him with an inflated ERA, but the Orioles knocked him around pretty good today. He allowed two homers among 11 hard-hit balls, and he struck out only three. The loss leaves him 4-4 with a 3.99 ERA, though his ERA is 2.50 over his last six starts.
  • BAL Center Fielder #31
Cedric Mullins went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a steal against the Mariners on Sunday.
Mullins snapped a hitless skid with a bunt single Saturday and today had two clean singles, both of which knocked in runs. He’s still batting just .194/.241/.351, but this seems like progress, and he has a nice schedule coming up against the Cardinals and White Sox this week.
  • SEA Second Baseman #4
Josh Rojas went hitless in a third straight game Sunday against the Orioles.
He’s in a 3-for-26 slump over his last seven games, and he hasn’t had an extra-base hit since May 5. It’s unfortunate for the Mariners, but if Rojas had to slump, he’s done so at a time when it wouldn’t affect his playing time, what with Jorge Polanco and J.P. Crawford both hurt. It doesn’t seem like Rojas will cease being a fixture versus righties anytime soon.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #6
Alek Manoah struck out seven Rays across seven scoreless innings in a 5-2 win on Sunday. He allowed just one hit, gave up one walk, and earned his first win of the season.
Manoah looked fantastic on Sunday attacking the Rays hitters with his patented slider, sinker combo. Control is paramount for Manoah with his east-west arsenal as he works his way back into a groove.
