  • SF Starting Pitcher #7
Blake Snell (adductor) recorded 10 strikeouts over five hitless innings on Friday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Sacramento.
He’s ready. The plan all along had been for Snell to rejoin the Giants’ rotation next week as long as this start went well, and he was nearly perfect, allowing just one walk over five frames. The 31-year-old reigning NL Cy Young Award winner should slot back into San Francisco’s rotation against the Pirates in Pittsburgh next week. Prior to landing on the injured list, Snell had gone 0-3 with a bloated 11.57 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 12/5 K/BB ratio across 11 2/3 innings (three starts).
  • SEA Shortstop #3
J.P. Crawford went 1-for-4 with a grand slam against the Angels on Saturday.
Crawford took Reid Detmers deep with the bases loaded in the fourth inning to put the Mariners up 5-0. The home run was his fourth of the season and second since coming off the injured list on May 20th. Seattle isn’t the best lineup, but Crawford regularly bats leadoff and has shown some pop recently.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #48
Reid Detmers allowed five runs in 3 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Mariners on Saturday.
Detmers gave up four hits, walked four and struck out three. He continues to struggle as he’s now allowed at least four runs in seven of his last eight starts. Detmers hasn’t won a game since winning his first three starts of the season. His ERA is now the worst it’s been all year at 6.14. The 24-year-old left-hander is set to face the Astros at home next week, but he’s best left on the bench until further notice.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher #50
Bryce Miller threw six shutout innings and picked up the win in the Mariners’ 9-0 victory over the Angels on Saturday.
The win was Miller’s fifth of the season. He gave up three hits, walked one and struck out nine. Miller’s ERA is now 3.18 on the season. After losing three straight decisions, he’s now won his last two starts. The 25-year-old right-hander is set to face the Royals on the road next week.
  • STL Shortstop #0
Masyn Winn went 0-for-3 with an RBI against the Phillies on Saturday.
It was a quiet night for the Cardinals as they could only muster one run. Winn’s hitless night ended a streak of 18 consecutive starts where he’d recorded a hit. While Brendan Donovan was out of the lineup, it’s notable that Winn moved up to the leadoff spot against Phillies left-handed starter Ranger Suarez.
  • PHI Third Baseman #28
Alec Bohm went 2-for-4 with a run scored, a double and two RBI against the Cardinals on Saturday.
Bohm started the scoring with a two-run double off Sonny Gray in the first inning. He only has five home runs on the season, but he’s hitting .311 with 49 RBI in 58 games. Bohm is a mainstay in the middle of the order for the Phillies now.
  • PHI First Baseman #3
Bryce Harper went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, a walk and a two-run home run against the Cardinals on Saturday.
The home run was Harper’s 14th on the season. He scored all three time he was on base and broke the game open with a two-run home run in the seventh inning to put the Phillies ahead 6-1. Harper’s average is up to .276 with a .919 OPS. He now has 44 RBI on the year.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #54
Sonny Gray allowed four runs in five innings and took the loss in the Cardinals’ 6-1 loss against the Phillies on Saturday.
Gray gave up five hits, walked three and struck out 10. The Phillies jumped on him early scoring three runs in the first inning. Gray was mostly in charge the rest of the way allowing only one more run and recording 10 punch outs. His 77 strikeouts this season put him inside the top 15 for starting pitchers in all off baseball. The 34-year-old right-hander is set to face the Rockies at home next week.
  • BOS Second Baseman #5
Red Sox manager Alex Cora acknowledged after Saturday’s victory over the Tigers that Vaughn Grissom (hamstring) is likely heading to the injured list.
Just how long he’ll remain there is still up in the air though. The 23-year-old infielder suffered a right hamstring strain during the second inning of Saturday’s contest — the severity of which is not yet known. Expect Enmanuel Valdez to see increased action in the Red Sox’ infield while Grissom is shelved.
  • CWS Right Fielder #22
Francys Romero reports that the White Sox plan to recall Oscar Colas from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.
With Luis Robert Jr. nearing a return, the timing doesn’t seem optimal for the 25-year-old outfielder to get a real shot at playing time with the White Sox, so we’ll see how this one goes. Colas has hit .244/.358/.406 with five homers, 21 RBI and six stolen bases in 193 plate appearances at Triple-A Charlotte this season.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #55
Ranger Suarez was pulled from Saturday’s start against the Cardinals after being hit in the left hand by a comebacker.
For now, the Phillies are calling it a left-hand contusion, so it sounds like the 28-year-old southpaw was fortunate to have avoided any serious injury. Prior to exiting, he had worked two perfect innings with a pair of strikeouts. It doesn’t sound like his next start should be in jeopardy, but fantasy managers should pay close attention to his status over the next couple of days just to be on the safe side.
