  • TB Right Fielder #15
Rays’ manager Kevin Cash told reporters after Wednesday’s game that Josh Lowe will undergo an MRI exam on his injured side on Thursday.
Cash also termed the injury “not ideal” saying that it’s being called a right side strain for the time being. We’ll know more on Thursday regarding how long Lowe may be sidelined for, but it sounds like a return trip to the injured list is going to be in order.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #18
Yoshinobu Yamamoto admitted after Saturday’s start that he felt tightness in his triceps earlier in the week as well.
Yamamoto also admitted that was the real reason why his start was pushed back from Thursday to Saturday. Interesting. He’ll presumably head for further evaluation to determine the severity of the injury, but don’t be surprised if it results in a trip to the injured list — as the Dodgers aren’t going to take any chances here. Be sure to watch his status closely over the next couple of days.
  • PIT Second Baseman #39
Nick Gonzales homered and drove home two runs in a loss to the Rockies on Saturday.
Gonzales tied the game at 1-1 with a solo homer off Ty Blach in the fourth frame. The former top prospect has been able to pick up five homers in his 117 at-bats, and that roundtripper along with an RBI on a fielder’s choice give him 25 on the year.
  • COL Center Fielder #11
Jake Cave went 3-for-5 with a triple and three RBI in a blowout win for the Rockies on Saturday over the Pirates.
Cave doubled in two in the fourth off Jared Jones, and singled in another run in the seventh. The triple was the third of the season for the speedy 31-year-old outfielder.
  • COL First Baseman #4
Michael Toglia hit a grand slam in a blowout victory for the Rockies over the Pirates on Saturday.
Toglia turned a comfortable lead of 11-4 into a certified blowout with his grand slam off Dennis Santana. It’s the second time he’s cleared the bases and made it home on the same play in 2024, but the other one was a Little League slam against the Cardinals. Toglia has been awful thus far in his MLB career, and isn’t likely to have too many efforts like this even playing his home games in Colorado.
  • COL Left Fielder #15
Hunter Goodman homered twice, picked up four hits and drove in five runs in a 16-4 shellacking of the Pirates on Saturday.
Goodman also scored three runs in a monster game for the 24-year-old. There haven’t been many for the infielder/backstop, but he showed off his impressive raw power with a pair of homers to center; one a solo shot and the other a two-run blast. Even with the big effort Goodman is only hitting .203/.247/.449, but that pop and his friendly home confines certainly make him a name to keep an eye on.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #50
Ty Blach held the Pirates to a pair of runs in 5 2/3 innings in a victory over the Pirates on Saturday.
Blach gave up seven hits and issued one walk with five strikeouts. The veteran southpaw continues to give up plenty of baserunners — 25 hits allowed over his last three starts — but he was able to get out of jams for the most part to get his third win of the season. Blach is obviously not a streaming option for his next start scheduled against the Dodgers.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #37
Jared Jones allowed six runs over his 4 2/3 innings while picking up a loss to the Rockies on Saturday.
Jones was not great, and the Pittsburgh bullpen allowed 10 more runs to score in a 16-4 blowout loss to the Rockies. The right-hander gave up six hits, and he also walked four on a night where the command just wasn’t there for the 22-year-old. He still was able to strike out six, and his rookie campaign has certainly been a success even with a couple of so-so outings as of late. He’ll take a 3.76 ERA into next weekend’s scheduled start vs. the Rays.
  • LAD Second Baseman #9
Gavin Lux drove in two runs in a loss Saturday to the Dodgers.
Lux was responsible for the only runs of the game for the Dodgers with a two-run single off Seth Lugo in the fourth. The 26-year-old still is scuffling with a slash of .215/.266/.285 over 186 at-bats.
  • KC Shortstop #7
Bobby Witt Jr. stole a base while going 2-for-5 in a victory for the Royals over the Dodgers on Saturday.
Witt Jr. also drove in a run with his single in the seventh, and it gave the Royals a 6-2 cushion. The star shortstop’s theft gives him 20 on the season, and there’s a good chance he’s going to pass the 49 swipes that he picked up in 2023. No one has helped fantasy managers fill categories more than Witt Jr. in 2024.
  • KC Catcher #1
MJ Melendez hit a grand slam to help the Royals to a 7-2 win over the Dodgers on Saturday.
WIth the bases full, Melendez took Blake Treinen deep to give the Royals a 5-2 lead. The 25-year-old outfielder has been a significant disappointment in 2024, but he’s at least starting to show some pop with three homers in the month of June; all of them coming in the last eight games.
