Stanford’s Rodgers leads Western Amateur

ROLAND, Ark. – Stanford’s Patrick Rodgers shot a 6-under 66 on Thursday to open a four-shot lead after the third round of stroke-play qualifying in the 111th Western Amateur.

Rodgers, from Avon, Ind., had a 15-under 201 total at The Alotian Club. After the fourth round Friday, the low 16 will advance to match play.

U.S. Public Links champion Jordan Niebrugge was second after a 70. Niebrugge, from Mequon, Wis., plays for Oklahoma State.
