131 – McIlroy’s 36-hole score, a U.S. Open record surpassing the 132 mark set by Ricky Barnes at Bethpage Black in 2009.
-11 – McIlroy’s score in relation to par, bettering the 36-hole U.S. Open record shared by Tiger Woods and Barnes by three shots. Barnes was at 8-under halfway through in ’09 and Woods at Pebble Beach in 2000.
-13 – McIlroy’s score in relation to par after his birdie at the 17th hole Friday, making him the first player to move deeper than -12 at any point of a U.S. Open.
-10 – McIlroy’s score in relation to par after he holed out a wedge to eagle the eighth hole Friday, making him the fastest player to get to double-digits under par in U.S. Open history. He did it in 26 holes. Gil Morgan was the previous quickest. He got there in 39 holes at Pebble Beach in 1992.
8 – McIlroy’s lead when he signed his scorecard. The U.S. Open record for largest 36-hole lead is six, set by Woods at Pebble Beach in 2000.
