The 28-year-old Paul made five birdies in a bogey-free round of 66 at Bermuda Run Country Club’s East course in Bermuda Run, N.C., then survived a 4-for-2 playoff to secure spot at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro. He’ll be joined in the field by co-medalists Mickey DeMorat and North Carolina local Blake McShea, as well as Rick Lamb, who also shot 66 and survived the playoff over Ryan Elmore and Erik Flores. Paul missed the cut at the U.S. Open, but finished solo 20th last month at the Barbasol Championship and T-20 most recently at the Barracuda Championship. Paul is playing his first season on the DP World Tour in 2022 and finished T-2 in the Soudal Open, which helped him advance to the U.S. Open by finishing eighth on the DP World Tour’s U.S. Open points’ list. He’s made 15 cuts in 18 DPWT starts with two top 10s.

The 28-year-old Paul, who earned promotion to the DPWT for 2022 after finishing ninth on last season’s Challenge Tour Road to Mallorca rankings, carded a bogey-free, 2-under 69 in the final round at Rinkven International Golf Club in Antwerp, Belgium. On the season, Paul has made 10 cuts in 11 starts with three top 10s, including a T-8 at the Joburg Open and T-10 at ISPS Handa Championship in Spain. His performance in Belgium, coupled with his T-16 at the British Masters, puts Paul at No. 5 in the updated standings for the 2022 European Qualifying Series for this year’s U.S. Open Championship. Ten spots for this year’s U.S. Open are available via the qualifying series, which includes four DPWT events. Still to come are the Dutch Open (May 26-29), where Paul will make his tournament debut, and Porsche European Open (June 2-5).
