DP World Tour rookie Yannik Paul posted his third top-10 result of the season and his first podium finish on Sunday at the Soudal Open, where he finished T-2 at 11-under 273, two strokes behind winner Sam Horsfield.
The 28-year-old Paul, who earned promotion to the DPWT for 2022 after finishing ninth on last season’s Challenge Tour Road to Mallorca rankings, carded a bogey-free, 2-under 69 in the final round at Rinkven International Golf Club in Antwerp, Belgium. On the season, Paul has made 10 cuts in 11 starts with three top 10s, including a T-8 at the Joburg Open and T-10 at ISPS Handa Championship in Spain. His performance in Belgium, coupled with his T-16 at the British Masters, puts Paul at No. 5 in the updated standings for the 2022 European Qualifying Series for this year’s U.S. Open Championship. Ten spots for this year’s U.S. Open are available via the qualifying series, which includes four DPWT events. Still to come are the Dutch Open (May 26-29), where Paul will make his tournament debut, and Porsche European Open (June 2-5).
