  • LAA Starting Pitcher #54
José Suarez gave up five runs while getting just three outs Sunday to take a loss to the Giants.
Suarez took over in the third after Ben Joyce pitched two scoreless innings and actually opened up with a scoreless frame. Alas, he got no one out in the fourth, and he and Hunter Strickland combined to give up nine runs, quickly turning this one into a laugher. Suarez has an 8.15 ERA in 35 1/3 innings this season. It wouldn’t be any sort of surprise to see him DFA’d in the coming days.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #54
Making his first start of the year, José Suarez took a loss after allowing four runs in 2 2/3 innings Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.
Suarez didn’t exactly earn this assignment with his 6.54 ERA in 16 relief appearances, but the Angels didn’t have anyone they wanted to call up. Suarez could return to the pen now with Chase Silseth expected back.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #54
José Suarez was charged with five runs in 4 1/3 innings of relief work Tuesday against the Reds.
Suarez came into this one having allowed two runs in 7 2/3 innings. He appears to be the Angels’ sixth starter at this point; he doesn’t deserve a spot ahead of Chase Silseth, but he should be next in line if something opens up.

Jose Suárez lost his arbitration case with the Angels and will make $925,000 this season.
Suárez missed most of last year after suffering a shoulder strain in early May. The 26-year-old lefty will have to compete for a spot in Los Angeles’ season-opening starting rotation.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was among 22 players that didn’t reach an arbitration agreement by Thursday evening’s filing deadline.
The Orioles lead the way with five players that could be headed for an arbitration hearing if the two sides are unable to reach a settlement, while the Marlins have three high-profile players of their own still unresolved. Guerrero Jr.'s $19.9 million request represents the highest figure, while the Rangers and Adolis García have the largest gap ($1.9 million) in negotiations. The smallest figure belongs to Casey Mize, who could be headed to a hearing despite just a $25,000 differential. Here’s the full list of arbitration-eligible players with contractual situations, with the players requested salaries listed and their respective clubs filing in parentheses, that have yet to be settled following Thursday evening’s deadline: Taylor Ward $4.8 million ($4.3 million), Jose Suárez $1.35 million ($935,000), Mauricio Dubón $3.5 million ($3 million), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. $19.9 million ($18.95 million), Tommy Edman $6.95 million ($6.5 million), J.D. Davis $6.9 million ($6.5 million), Tanner Scott $5.7 million ($5.15 million), Luis Arraez $12 million ($10.6 million), Jazz Chisholm Jr. $2.9 million ($2.625 million), Phil Bickford $900,000 ($815,000), Danny Coulombe $2.4 million ($2.2 million), Austin Hays $6.3 million ($5.85 million), Ryan O’Hearn $3.8 million ($3.2 million), Cionel Pérez $1.4 million ($1.1 million), Jacob Webb $1 million ($925,000), Alec Bohm $4 million ($3.4 million), Adolis García $6.9 million ($5 million), Harold Ramírez $4.3 million ($3.8 million), Jason Adam $3.25 million ($2.7 million), Jonathan India $4 million ($3.2 million), Casey Mize $840,000 ($815,000) and Nick Gordon $1.25 million ($900,000).

José Suarez allowed one run with three strikeouts over 1 2/3 innings on Friday in a no-decision against the Twins.
Suarez tossed a clean first inning, then surrendered a run and left the bases loaded in the second inning with two outs before he was replaced by David Daniel, who got the Angels out of the jam. The 25-year-old left-hander has logged 28 2/3 innings this season with a 9.10 ERA, 2.06 WHIP, and a 26/19 K/BB ratio.

Angels activated LHP José Suarez from 60-day injured list.
This is actually a stunning move, as Suarez has not pitched in a game since July. Even the Angels beat writers seem baffled. Suarez suffered a shoulder strain in early May after posting a 9.62 ERA in six starts for the Angels. He did start a rehab assignment in July, but a setback halted it after two games, and we hadn’t heard anything about his progress since. It seems the Angels have decided they’re just fine with having him rehab in the majors.

Angels transferred LHP José Suarez from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
Suarez remains shut down from throwing due to a left shoulder strain that he suffered back in early May. The 25-year-old lefty remains without an official timetable to return this season.

An MRI on José Suarez’s left shoulder didn’t reveal any structural damage.
That’s the good news. Suarez is likely facing at least a four-week absence due to a left shoulder strain and is unlikely to get another shot in the Angels’ starting rotation once he’s finally healthy.

Angels placed LHP José Suarez on the 15-day injured list with a left shoulder strain.
It was relatively easy to see this one coming after Suarez was lifted from Sunday’s start against the Rangers due to left shoulder discomfort. The 25-year-old southpaw has struggled to a calamitous 9.62 ERA, 2.14 WHIP and 21/15 K/BB ratio across 24 1/3 innings (six starts) this season. Veteran righty César Valdez has been summoned to take his spot on the active roster.
