Jayson Stark writes about a four-way trade involving Milton Bradley and a bunch of other bad contracts that could have happened but didn’t:
According to sources familiar with that discussion, Bradley would have wound up in Tampa Bay for Pat Burrell. Burrell would have landed temporarily in Chicago, until the Cubs could have found a place to spin him. The Mets also would have sent Luis Castillo to the Cubs. And Gary Matthews Jr. would have ended up with the Mets, who then most likely would have filled their second-base opening by signing Orlando Hudson.
Blech. I haven’t seen that much crap moved around since Mad Max walked into Bartertown.
