Last night we learned that David Wright was expected to miss an “extended” period of time with a herniated disk in his neck. Now we know how extended that is: “at least” 4-6 weeks according to Ken Rosenthal.
That timetable would put Wright’s return somewhere around the All-Star break, but that’s if you ignore the “at least” part of things. It could be much longer, especially given how much Wright has to work through simply to be healthy and play in the best of circumstances given his back/spinal issues.
With Lucas Duda out at first base for an extended period and now Wright, the Mets have some work to do to fill out their lineup in a way that will help them keep pace with the Nats.
