Max Scherzer, a client of Scott Boras, seems comfortable with slow-playing this market. We’ve seen loads of rumors and reports involving the other prominent free agent ace, Jon Lester, but it’s hard to identify which teams are in the running at the moment for Max. Here’s something, though ...
According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Giants are casting “a wide net” as they look to make up for the loss of Pablo Sandoval and improve their overall roster for 2015. One of the specific targets is Scherzer, who’d give San Francisco a ridiculous one-two punch for 2015 and beyond if he can be paired with World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner.
Scherzer, 30, posted a dominant 3.02 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 10.2 K/9 across 434 2/3 innings in his final two years with the Tigers. The right-hander should get the richest contract of any player this winter.
