Ronny Cedeno is unavailable because of a strained calf, so when Justin Turner left today’s game with a serious-looking leg injury the Mets shifted David Wright from third base to shortstop.

Wright has never started a game at shortstop and has just one career appearance there, which came last season and involved him playing two innings at the position in place of an injured Jose Reyes. The rest of his 10,108 innings defensively have all come at third base.

He’ll play more than two innings at shortstop today, but expect the Mets to call up another middle infielder immediately after the game.
