The Red Sox have placed All-Star starter Steven Wright on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to August 8, Nick Friar of CSN New England reports. Wright injured his right shoulder pinch-running in last Sunday’s game against the Dodgers.
Wright discussed the injury with WEEI’s Rob Bradford on Saturday:
Clay Buchholz took Wright’s spot in the rotation but lasted only 4 1/3 innings in Saturday’s win against the Diamondbacks. He’ll start again on Thursday against the Tigers and will continue to pitch out of the rotation as long as Wright is out.
Wright, 31, is 13-5 with a 3.01 ERA and a 123/51 K/BB ratio in 146 2/3 innings this season.
