The Brewers have signed reliever Matt Albers to a two-year contract, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. According to Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith, Albers will earn $2.5 million each season and has incentives to earn more money by reaching certain playing time thresholds.

Albers, 35, had a terrific season for the Nationals in 2017, posting a 1.62 ERA with a 63/17 K/BB ratio in 61 innings. He will help the Brewers’ bullpen bridge the gap to closer Corey Knebel.

Albers joins Lorenzo Cain and Christian Yelich as newcomers to the Brewers just in this last week. The club is clearly trying to make a push to contend for the NL Central title in 2018.
