Takashi Saito placed on disabled list with hamstring injury

Takashi Saito strained his hamstring while pitching in the Brewers’ home opener on April 4 and the team initially hoped he’d be able to return in a few days, but now he’s been put on the disabled list and replaced on the roster by Triple-A call-up Brandon Kintzler.

Saito, who missed the end of last season with a shoulder injury and also battled some hamstring issues during spring training, is eligible to return on April 20 because the DL stint is backdated to his last game action.

His last appearance was an ugly one, as Saito served up two homers to take the loss against his former Braves teammates. Not only was it the first time in 294 career appearances that Saito allowed multiple homers, the 41-year-old right-hander served up an average of one homer per 16 innings previously.
