Per Jon Heyman, a few teams have inquired with the Angels about starter C.J. Wilson in a “buy low type trade” but the Angels haven’t liked any of the offers to this point.
Wilson, 35, is entering the final year of a five-year, $77.5 million contract signed ahead of the 2011 season. The lefty will earn $20 million this season, a sizable portion of which the Angels would likely have to cover in a trade.
Wilson bounced back from a tough 2014 campaign by putting up a 3.89 ERA with 110 strikeouts and 46 walks in 132 innings. However, his season ended after his July 28 start against the Astros due to an impingement in his left elbow. He underwent surgery in mid-August but is expected to be fully ready by Opening Day.
