Gomez bat-flipped an RBI double in the top of the first inning and probably got some flak from the Yankees’ dugout as he was running out that sixth-inning pop fly. You might recall that he has history with Yankees catcher Brian McCann, who didn’t start Tuesday. Gomez would retaliate with a three-run bomb in the top of the seventh against Chris Capuano. It capped off the Astros’ big night of scoring in a 15-1 rout.
Houston currently holds a four-game lead in the American League West standings.
