NASCAR on NBC’s David Burns talked with Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s crew chief, Greg Ives, about the driver’s condition and the preparations with Jeff Gordon, who will drive for Earnhardt in the next two races as Earnhardt continues to recover from concussion-like symptoms.
Ives said Earnhardt’s visit to the Hendrick Motorsports shop on Wednesday “kind of changed the mood in the shop a little bit, kind of pumped everybody up.’'
Ives also discussed working with Gordon this weekend. Ives noted that the driving style of Earnhardt and Gordon mirror each other more closely than with teammates Jimmie Johnson and Chase Elliott.
