First, the NCAA.
Now, the ACC.
The Atlantic Coast Conference is the latest sporting body to follow the NBA in pulling events from North Carolina due to the state’s anti-gay law. The NBA removed the 2017 All-Star game from Charlotte. The ACC is moving its neutral-site championships, including football and basketball.
This won’t be a silver bullet. The Hornets will remain in Charlotte, just as North Carolina, Duke, North Carolina State and Wake Forest will remain in the state.
But this has become a wider movement against this discriminatory law, a movement the NBA ushered into the sporting world.
