Just last season Jason Kidd was an older player who needed a little extra rest here and there, and got it during back-to-backs.
Now he’s the head coach of a team with some older key pieces — Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce — and once he looked at the NBA schedule released Tuesday he had to notice his Brooklyn team has a hefty 20 back-to-back games. Of those, 15 have both ends on the road, reports the New York Post.

How first-year coach Kidd handles these could be a key to how fresh the Nets are come the playoffs. Look for Garnett, Pierce and maybe some other players to get nights off in the second game of those back-to-backs, particularly as we get into 2014 and past the All-Star break. On the bright side, the Nets have only two four-games-in-five-nights situations.
For the record, the Bobcats were the “lucky” winners of the most back-to-backs with 21.
Brooklyn’s neighbors the Knicks have just 14 back-to-backs, tied for the fewest in the NBA with the Denver Nuggets.
