James is averaging 26 points per game, so he should catch Allen in the next half-dozen games. He should be on track to pass Patrick Ewing (24,815) to move into the top 20 this season. Next up after that would be Jerry West (25,192), but with only 26 games left, that’s probably unrealistic this season. It’s inevitable that he’ll keep climbing up the scoring list as his career progresses—he’s already among the all-time greats in that category.
