Kobe Bryant is on the verge of passing Michael Jordan for third place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

It’s an incredible achievement -- not just one of longevity, but of incredible skill, as well.

This didn’t go unnoticed by LeBron James, who was asked about Bryant before returning to the lineup to face the Pelicans on Friday.

From Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com:

LeBron on Kobe nearing MJ: “It’s not surprising. He’s one of, if not the greatest scorer our game has ever seen”

More LeBron on Kobe: “He’s one of the guys that I looked up to ... Going straight from high school to the NBA he was on my wall”

Kobe is by far the most polarizing figure in the game. He’s its fiercest competitor, and insists on dictating winning and losing on his own terms.

But whether you love him or hate him, Bryant is unquestionably one of the greatest to ever do it. LeBron realizes this as much as anyone, and didn’t hesitate in the slightest when paying his proper respects.
