Randy Wittman: Wizards '[censored] talking about who’s getting shots instead of worrying about getting stops’

The Wizards lost 11 of 13, traded wins and losses then won five straight.

It seemed they’d seen rock bottom and then come out of their tailspin.

But Washington has lot two straight – 113-99 to the Clippers and 109-86 to the Kings.

After the loss to Sacramento, Wizards coach Randy Wittman was asked about his team’s offense.

Wittman, via CSN Washington:

You should go in there and get a locker, alright. You should go in there and get a locker. Because that’s our problem. We’re [censored] talking about who’s getting shots instead of worrying about getting stops.

It has nothing do with offense. I don’t even know why you would bring that up, alright. It’s all about our focus from a defensive standpoint.

We come to a timeout, we’re worried about, ‘We turned the ball over there. Let’s look to throw it in the po’ – no let’s look to get some defensive stops.

Now you want to ask another offensive question? Because I’m not answering any offensive questions.

The Wizards weren’t good enough on either side of the ball against the Kings, but it’s not surprising Wittman is focused on defense.

He has always prioritized defense, and that has been key to Washington’s ascension. He’s also not a very good offensive coach.

The Wizards better figure out their offensive balance, though. Griping over shots can easily lead to bigger rifts, and that could be a big problem as the playoffs approach.
