For the first time since 2010, Nate Robinson is going to start the season with the team he ended the last one with.

Robinson was in Denver last year being his vintage self — playing hard, scoring 10 points a game, getting beat on defense and making sometimes great and sometimes odd choices — when he tore his ACL at the end of December, ending his season.

When that happened, it was always likely he would opt back in with the Nuggets (his open market value dropped), and he said as much. His agent has made it official, reports Sam Amick of the USA Today.

Robinson likely will have backup point guard duties behind Ty Lawson, as he did last season.

Robinson’s injury was part of a wave of injuries that washed over the Nuggets last season — Danilo Gallinari, J.J. Hickson, JaVale McGee, Ty Lawson and Wilson Chandler all missed significant time due to injuries.

It will be interesting to see what Brian Shaw can do with an actual roster of quality players. It’s still a challenge for them in a deep West, but last season the Nuggets never had a chance with so many players out.
