Sean Marks done for the season

Like the Hornets needed more injuries.

The Hornets’ back-up big man Sean Marks will have surgery Tuesday on a bum shoulder and miss the rest of the season. While Marks isn’t a pivotal cog or anything, it’s still an impact on the Hornets’ depth, which is near-non-existent as is. The Hornets aren’t the most injury-plagued team in the league (the Rockets, Blazers, and Warriors get to fight it out for that title, and try not to injure themselves in the process), but they’ve had a rough run of it, without Chris Paul, and with almost every player missing time.

Oh, and Peja Stojakovic will miss another ten days at least with an abdominal strain. Because, you know, when it rains, it pours injured old guys. Stojakovic could return at the same time as Chris Paul, who has missed 20 games after knee surgery.

The Hornets look more and more like a lock for the lottery. Unless they land a top-three, they probably won’t be able to get anyone to make a significant impact. Then again, we said that last year, and they garnered two of the top rookies in the league.

It’s a weird, mixed future for the Hornets.
